Term 2, Year 2: History - Fire Station visit linked to The Great Fire of London
Our Year 2 students had an exciting and educational visit to the local fire station! The children had the chance to explore the different areas of the station, including the control room and the firefighters' changing area, while learning about the vital work firefighters do to keep us all safe.
One of the highlights was using the fire hoses—it was so much fun! The children also participated in a treasure hunt around the fire station, following clues to discover important fire safety tips. They learned essential safety actions such as "Stop, Drop, and Roll" and the life-saving mantra: "Get out, stay out, and call 999." This hands-on experience was perfectly tied to the Year 2 history topic, The Great Fire of London, helping the children understand how fire safety has evolved since 1666.
