School Council
At Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, we believe it is important that every child has a voice and that they are able to give back to their school and community. That is why it gives us great pleasure to run the School Council this year. Our School Council was carefully selected by both myself and Mrs Dowdeswell to represent the children of the school and to take upon projects which will benefit the children and build upon the foundations that make our school great.
The school councillors have already come up with some brilliant project ideas and we can’t wait to roll these out as the year progresses.
Our first project is working alongside the charity, Brake, to help improve the safety of the road outside of our school. The children have been working really hard producing a survey, posters and a presentation to highlight how important it is that our adults follow the rules to ensure coming to and from school is a safe experience for the whole community.
Road Safety Project
This term the school councillors have been working very hard to produce a presentation to parents on the importance of road safety outside of our school.
The councillors took part in some research outside of the school, we looked at how many people walk to school, the busyness of the road and also the location of our new sign to stop parents parking outside our school. The children then created a road safety survey which was sent to all of the children and some of the results were very worrying! We then worked hard to create road safety posters and a presentation which they presented beautifully at parents evening.
We really hope that the adults got the message of the importance of road safety – please find our presentation to have a look at in your own time - some of the results will shock you on how dangerous parking outside our school is!
